EUROSAI Project Group on Preparing for Future Risks and Climate Crisis

January 11, 2024

Colleagues representing UK NAO and the European Court of Auditors plan to re-start the EUROSAI project group on preparing for future risks and climate crisis, with a first meeting taking place online at 11am UK time on the 8th February 2024. The project group will now primarily focus on climate change and will be open to any interested EUROSAI WGEA members and observers. We hope it will be a valuable and engaging way to stay connected and share insights in relation to this important topic.

This project group will provide a regular and informal opportunity for SAIs to discuss emerging issues for governments’ approaches to climate change, with the aim of helping to build our collective understanding of potential risks as well as emerging good practice. It is planned to arrange around three sessions of the group each year, during which external guest(s) will provide a short presentation on a topic likely to be of interest to SAIs across Europe, after which we will break into small online groups to discuss the topic in more detail.

The first session will focus on Public Engagement on Climate Change, with presentations and discussions from the UN Environment Programme and Climate Outreach, a climate communications organisation that works with clients and partners around the world. Further details on the agenda for the first meeting will be later in January. The session is expected to be around an hour and a half long.

If you are interested in joining this first session, please send an email to deanna.neesham@nao.org.uk, cc eurosaiwgea@nik.gov.pl.
