Cooperation with the Contact Committee of Heads of Supreme Audit Institutions of the European Union
The Contact Committee is an autonomous, independent and non-political assembly of the Heads of the Supreme Audit Institutions of the EU Member States and of the European Court of Auditors, and meets every year. It provides a forum for cooperation and exchange of professional knowledge and experience within the audit field and other EU related issues. Within this context, it commits itself to:
● fostering dialogue and cooperation in audit and related activities,
● establishing and promoting common positions on emerging audit and accountability issues, and
● supporting CC member SAIs and the SAIs of countries subject to the EU enlargement policy.
To achieve these goals the Contact Committee has established several working groups and expert networks, organises training events, seminars and supports contacts among its auditors.
In order to contribute to effective external audit and accountability in the EU and to help improving EU financial management and good governance, the Contact Committee also provides mutual support and initiate common activities by encouraging contacts and exchange of information with EUROSAI and its members, which may benefit from shared experience or, where applicable, even participate in events organised by the Contact Committee.
Recent examples of cooperation in practice include joint Contact Committee/EUROSAI training events, as well as participation by EUROSAI Members in a multilateral audit started under the Contact Committee.
