EUROSAI Project Group on “Auditing in the new normal: Connecting Technology to Audit Processes” output available

Esteemed colleagues of EUROSAI Community!
On behalf of the Turkish Court of Accounts (TCA), we are pleased to announce that the EUROSAI Project Group on “Auditing in the new normal: Connecting Technology to Audit Processes” has completed its work and the main output “Project Group Survey Assessment Report” is now accessible.
As known, with the pandemic, SAIs were forced to work differently from standard practices and to implement innovative solutions; and given their role in public administration, the capacity for rapid response was largely expected. In addition, the necessity of increasing the resilience of institutions against risks and threats, strengthening their management capacities, and encouraging strategies and approaches that will ensure sustainability have come to the fore. In this context, SAIs needed to invest more in innovative technology tools, techniques and human resources with digital skills and capabilities.
Due to the importance of keeping up with the developing technology, especially in times of crisis, the PG aimed to improve communication and cooperation between SAIs in order to be prepared for sudden and large-scale crises that may arise in the future.
Within the scope of the PG, a survey consisting of 4 parts and 71 questions was conducted among EUROSAI members; SAIs were invited to participate as survey respondents. The questionnaire applied in this context aims to understand the current organizational structure of the SAIs for data collection, processing and reporting; to obtain information about the audits carried out during the pandemic process; and to identify the difficulties and obstacles encountered in this period to be presented in the output.
We would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to all our colleagues who responded to the survey and shared their valuable opinions. And we would like to thank the PG member and observers for participating in the discussion sessions, providing their support in the survey preparation phase, reviewing the output.
