EUROSAI Project Group on “Raising the Awareness of the SAIs on the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) of the auditees and using the ERM approach in developing risk-based annual audit plans” output available

4 septembre 2023

The EUROSAI Project Group on "Raising the Awareness of the SAIs on the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) of the auditees and using the ERM approach in developing risk-based annual audit plans" led by the Turkish Court of Accounts (TCA), has completed its study, and the survey assessment report, as its main output, is now at your disposal for consideration.

The main objective of this PG is to assess the level of awareness about risk management among the SAIs in the EUROSAI region, to identify the fundamental risk management practices of both their own organizations and the entities within their audit jurisdictions, and to emphasize the importance of developing risk-based audit plans. The ultimate goal is to take a step towards developing methodologies that facilitate this process. In this regard, the project focused on presenting concrete and objective data on its intended topics. To obtain the most accurate data, a survey based on the fundamental concepts of risk management was applied, considering that obtaining direct information from SAIs about their practices would be the best approach.

A total of 28 SAIs from the EUROSAI region participated in this survey. The results indicate that the level of awareness about risk management is quite satisfactory, with the possibility that the contributing countries might have better risk awareness compared to those who did not participate in the survey.

As part of this project, the SAIs of Hungary and Romania participated as observers, and the SAI of Finland contributed through peer review. We seize the opportunity to express our profound appreciation to all colleagues and contributors who supported the realization of this output, responded to surveys, provided peer-review, and shared their experiences.  As we unveil this publication, we hope that it would be a pivotal milestone, one that shall inspire further progress and promote the exchange of knowledge within SAI community.
