New Auditor General of the Supreme Audit Institution of Iceland

Althingi, Iceland’s Parliament, has unanimously elected Mr. Skuli Eggert Thordarson as the new Auditor General of Iceland for a six-year term. Mr. Thordarson, who formally assumed office May 1st, 2018, replaced Mr. Sveinn Arason, following his ten-year tenure at the office.
Mr. Thordarson has a long and prominent career in public service. He was the Director General of the Tax Administration for eleven years. Additional roles include the Tax Administration's Deputy Director and Director of Tax Investigations. Mr. Thordarson holds a law degree (candidate juris) from the University of Iceland.
